Cornhole board frame is nailed and glued together. We use 1x4 for the side frame and 2x4 for the top, bottom and center support. Using a 1x4 for the side support keeps the weight down a small amount, and adding a center support keeps the board from flexing in the middle. Most other boards that are made do not have these features.
Cornhole board top is nailed and glued to frame with a waterproof glue. It is then sanded smooth with 2 progressively finer grits of sandpaper. We only use hardwood plywood for the top of the cornhole board. Most other boards you see will use pine plywood for the top. Pine cost less to manufacture but the hardwood top makes for a better board.
The folding legs are then added. The legs are bolted to the frame and double nutted. This prevents the legs from coming loose with the folding and unfolding of the legs. The boards are then sanded once again with a fine grit sand paper. Then the boards are primed with a exterior acrylic primer.
After sanding, the boards are painted with 2 coats of exterior acrylic paint. The graphics are added, if preferred, then the boards are topped off with a clear coat.
